survivor

This rite of passage has been developed to increase the confidence / self -reliance of young people spending time in wild places and to hi-light how nature's gifts can sustain us.  This experience is ideal preparation for survival /bushcraft type badges / awards.

Young people will independently explore a wild space to locate water, things that can be eaten, materials for making fire and shelters and that can be used for natural first aid.  They discover how to use these materials using 'old' skills that have been passed to us by our ancestors.

Young people will also be invited to spend increasingly longer periods of time tuning into their senses whilst being still in nature. They will be asked to reflect on their natural world journey to date and invited to set their personal intention to support their local wild space, be it at their HQ or in their garden.

Towards the end of this experience we will also come together around the campfire to celebrate their achievements, welcoming them to our community and to give thanks.
