a walk in the woods

Location:  Hambledon, Hampshire

Timings:   9.30am to 5.00pm

Maximum number of participants:  12 (minimum 2)

This experience is for anyone interested in exploring ways of getting to know wild plants, where they like to live and how they can be utilised to support you incorporating them into a wilder life.

When I first met, what is often referred to as the 'green wall', wild plants found in hedgerows and woodlands I was overwhelmed... they were all green and looked very similar,  Getting to know these plants, where they hung out and overcoming my fear of eating a poisonous plant or berry took some time.  I now know plants better including what their needs are and how we can respectfully share their gifts with them.

To begin with on the 'a walk in the woods' experience we will tune up our sensory apparatus including how we use our eyes and we will then focus our attention on meeting some poisonous plants and consider ways to identify them and figure out where they typically hang out.  We will then slowly wander in and around the woodland I help to look after called ‘the wild'.

We will get to know some plants that can be incorporated into a wilder life.  We will respectfully gather, process and explore the properties of these shrubs and plants.

I am certain you will use the transferable skills learned during this experience again and again in various contexts such as in a garden, campsite or if you are inspired to travel to wilder places.  To support you practicing these skills I have produced a set of guides which aim to compliment all the experiences I offer.  The relevant guide(s) will be sent onto you in a trade for your feedback about how you found your experience.
