Wild Ancestor
A rite of passage into the skills of those who came before: travelling lightly, moving unseen and meeting your needs from the land.
The day
We begin with the shift from learner to traveller: what it means to move through the land with awareness, needing very little.
You'll make fire with flint and steel and nurse a tinder bundle into flame, and learn where to find water in the landscape and how to make it safe.
Through the afternoon we practise moving unseen and knowing when to stay still, keeping warm without announcing yourself, and reading nature's warnings.
It is a day of slowing down and paying attention, in the way scouts and trackers have done for thousands of years.
