Bird communities & interspecies communication

Familiar birds can turn a place into a living conversation.

A goldfinch among bare twigs bursting into bud
A jackdaw on a sunny lawn with long shadows
A brown and white barred feather standing upright in grass

Robins at a fence, blackbirds under a hedge, a wren in cover, crows overhead. This community is about what birds are doing as well as who they are: feeding, singing, keeping in touch, squabbling over space or reacting to a disturbance. Other species are often part of the same scene.

Getting to know a few neighbours over time helps you become more present and attentive. A change invites a question, though it doesn't explain itself. Listening and wondering is where the conversation begins.
