Courses & experiences

Learn it outside, together.

Every Wilding book has a matching day outdoors with Jay, for adults (18+). Small groups, unhurried days, and plenty of time to notice, ask questions, make things and share food around the fire. Take what you learn home to your own life, your family or the group you work with.

Each course follows one threshold book

Which course first?

The Wilding books are thresholds: places where you can step onto your wilding journey. The Practice Keys open the doors. There is no fixed route, but here are some good first steps.

Know nature

If you want to know nature, Wild Awake is the ideal first step. Drawn to tracks, signs and bird language? You could start with The Invisible Wild instead.

Live wilder

If your curiosity is Wild Crafts, start with Everyday Wilder Living for tool skills and knowledge, then wander into A Walk in the Wild for gathering skills. Wild Wise, a cleverly woven web of learning and discovery, helps all the way.

Pass it on

You can start passing it on at any time, through Wild Guide.

Families & groups

If you work with families or groups of adults and/or children, try Wilder Together or Wild Sparks. Wild Awake is a useful first step too.

How booking works

Choose a course and date

Open a course, pick a date from the list and add it to your Rucksack. If no dates suit, ask Jay and he will let you know when the next one runs.

Check out

Go to My Rucksack and check out. Full payment secures your place. Groups are small (usually up to 8), so places go quickly.

Agree to the terms

At checkout you will be asked to read and agree to the terms and conditions, including the cancellation policy.

Get ready

Jay will confirm your booking and send joining instructions: where to meet, what to bring and what to wear. Please tell him about any health needs beforehand.

Cancellations in brief

Cancel in writing. More than 6 weeks before the start date: full refund less a £5 admin fee. Between 6 and 4 weeks: 50% refund. Less than 4 weeks, or not attending: no refund. If Jay has to cancel, you will be offered another date or a full refund. The full terms and conditions always apply.

Days in the wild

What a course day looks like

laying the fire
a good knife, well cared for
wild tea in a tin mug
a tarp for shelter
autumn gathering
making with what we find
Adult groups & organisations

A day for your team

All courses are for adults. Any course can be run privately for a group of adults, such as teachers and school staff, forest school, youth and Scout or Guide leaders, a work team or a community group, at a place that suits you. It is a great way for people who work with children and young people to gain the skills and confidence to bring nature connection into their own sessions.
